Software Development Technical Manager
Shannon Edwards
After joining iA in 2022, Shannon Edwards now works as a software development technical manager. She appreciates the opportunities she gets to collaborate with kind, supportive and passionate colleagues who make every project meaningful.
One of Shannon’s proudest career achievements was successfully leading a cross-functional team in developing complex, high-impact products from the ground up. Despite the challenge of working with unfamiliar technologies, she and her team learned together, exceeded their goals and implemented more efficient, sustainable practices that continue to benefit the organization today.
In her role, Shannon emphasizes that being a technical manager is about much more than overseeing code or managing deadlines. Mentorship, team dynamics, and creating an environment that fosters innovation are at the heart of what she does. Balancing the demands of the business with the wellbeing of her team has been one of her biggest challenges, but she views it as an opportunity to grow as a leader and collaborator.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. As a hockey family, much of their free time is centered on cheering for the Edmonton Oilers and watching her boys grow in skill on the ice. They also enjoy traveling and exploring new places together. A dedicated sports fan, Shannon also follows the University of Washington Huskies and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Shannon is inspired by her family—her husband, who is always evolving and supportive, and her mother and sister, who motivate her with their openness and willingness to try new things. This encouragement drives her to continuously learn and support her own team members’ growth.
If she could travel anywhere, Shannon would return to Germany, a place filled with personal memories.
Her advice for those entering her field is to embrace growth, stay committed to learning new technologies and always focus on supporting your team. For Shannon, leadership is as much about people as it is about technology—and that’s what makes her role both challenging and deeply rewarding.
